H. E. Ambassador Chikezie Ogbonna Nwachukwu conducted a two-day working visit to the Nigerian Military Contingent in MINUSMA Base in Timbuktu Region

The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Republic of Mali, H. E. Chikezie Ogbonna Nwachukwu led a delegation of the Embassy to the Timbuktu region, on a two (2) day working visit from 22nd to 23rd of March 2022, to the Nigerian military and Police Contingents currently serving in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA). The purpose of the visit was to access the condition of the officers and boost their morale amidst the ongoing security crisis in the country. The visit was very significant, as it was the first by a Head of Nigerian Mission in Mali since 2015.

The delegation led by Ambassador Nwachukwu, comprised of the Défense Advisor to Nigeria’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, Brigadier General D. G. Allu, Nigeria’s Défense Attaché to the Republic of Mali, Colonel B. M. Madaki and Counsellor/Political desk officer in the Embassy in Bamako, Mr. H. O. Badmus. Other members of the delegation were staff Officer Grade 1 at Nigeria’s Defense Section in New York, Lieutenant Colonel C. O. Iruegbukpe and Deputy Defense Attaché- Finance in the Nigerian Embassy in Mali, Lieutenant Commander Kubiat Lekwot.
